Manny Tripp

Head Coach

Manny brings his extraordinary experience and unique knowledge to the development of The Academy. Since 1992 Manny has trained, played and coached all over the world. Working with players from beginner’s right through to world class Olympians.

In 1991 Manny travelled to Malaysia to train under badminton legend Eddy Choong who became his mentor and a great friend. Eddy had an exceptional academy in Penang which was something that he had never seen before. Young players had the opportunity to be coached by ex Malaysian internationals and World champions. When Manny retired from international badminton in 2003 the Academy was born.

Manny’s passionate style to everything he does is a message that cannot be ignored. He has always relied on his resilient and positive attitude and unique strengths to enable him to attain his current level of success. He demands a lot out of himself, from all those who work for him, and those who train with him.

Ella Tripp

Head Coach

Ella started badminton at the age of 12 and by the time she turned 14 she was playing for England. Winning many titles as a junior she was able to make the transition to become one of world’s top ladies doubles players, achieving a top 7 world ranking.

She is an Olympian and Commonwealth games Gold and Silver medallist. Her achievements include being 3 times national champion, European Bronze medallist and winning many EBU titles.

After competing against the world’s best for over 10 years in 2007 she decided to retire and pass on all her knowledge and experience to help guide our young Academy players.

Nathan Robertson

Head Coach

Nathan is the Ambassador of the Academy and has been a professional player since the age of 16. He has won several titles around the world including the All England and China open, the two most prestigious tournament on the circuit. He has won medals consistently over the last 12 years including becoming European Champion, Commonwealth Champion, World Champion and of course that Olympic Silver Medal in Athens 2004.

After retirering from professional Badminton in 2012 he now devotes is time to producing the next England stars. Nathan feels he can bring his unique talent, skills and enjoyment to help, lead and develop our up and coming rising stars.

Chris Miller

Assistant Coach

Chris Miller is one of The Academy’s secret weapons. Mr Badminton has a passion for the sport that shines through and through, which makes training fun and exciting. Chris is one of the main organisers for the Yonex All England, World Championships, Europeans and now for badminton at the Olympics.
